Holy Innocents' Chaplain Ordained To Episcopal Priesthood
Ordination of Lower School Chaplain Timothy Seamans celebrated Saturday, June 25.

Timothy Seamans, Lower School chaplain at Holy Innocents' Episcopal School, was ordained to the sacred order of priesthood on Saturday, June 25, at The Cathedral of St. Philip. He had been ordained a deacon in the Episcopal Diocese of Atlanta last December.
As an ordained priest, Seamans will now be able to preside over the Eucharist celebrated each month in chapel, Seamans said. “Eucharist is central to our HIES identity because it's a constant invitation for the school to joyfully come together and share in God’s love, hospitality, and service, which we then take with us into our daily lives to share with our families, classmates, communities, and the world,” he explained. “Additionally, as a priest I can now perform at other sacramental occasions—like baptisms, weddings, and funerals—for members and alumni of Holy Innocents’.

“Overall, being a priest places me in an optimal position to initiate and partake in sacred occasions in the life of the school and its families.”
At Holy Innocents’, Seamans has served as Lower School chaplain since 2013. His broad academic credentials include a Master of Divinity degree from Yale University, a diploma in Anglican Studies from Yale, and an M.A. in Religion from the Chicago Theological Seminary. He served as assistant chaplain in the Yale University Chaplain’s Office and assistant chaplain at Peterhouse College at Cambridge, and also taught high school at Chicago Hope Academy.

In addition to his dedication to educational ministry, Seamans engages in community service, such as his work with the Beloved Community: Commission for Dismantling Racism in the Episcopal Diocese of Atlanta.
“Timothy has been a graceful presence as a lay chaplain in our Lower School, and, indeed, throughout our community,” said the Rev. Michael Sullivan, rector of Holy Innocents’ Episcopal Church. “With ordination to the priesthood, we welcome yet another dimension of his leadership to the campus and our family.
“Through celebration of the Holy Eucharist and his priestly presence, Timothy will deepen his involvement among our children and open doors to the sacred in every day life. I’m excited for him to take this next step, but honestly, more excited for our community.”
Seamans is married to epidemiologist Marissa Seamans.
