Holy Innocents' Students Win Regional Scholastic Art & Writing Awards
Five Gold Key award-winners advance to national competition.
Holy Innocents’ students have won 20 regional Scholastic photography awards and one in drawing and illustration this year.
Five Gold Key awards will be presented to: Katie Brown, Libby Bulley, Sarah Catherine Conklin, Katie Leonard and Lexi Swanson. Gold Key winners advance to the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards national competition
Eight Silver Key winners from Holy Innocents’ are: Libby Bulley, Sarah Catherine Conklin, Ansley Eden, Reilly McClain, Grace Sanders,Caroline Schultz, Sarah Scothorn and Andrea Smith. And Honorable Mentions go to: Libby Bulley, Ansley Eden, Emilee Hagerman, Morgan McMenamy, Reese Pittard, Ellie Rousseau, Andrea Smith and Jean Williams.
A reception for the Gold and Silver Key winners will be held at the Savannah Campus of SCAD (Savannah College of Art and Design) on Saturday, March 11, from 2-4 p.m. An exhibition is scheduled at SCAD Savannah, Poetter Hall, March 1-10, from 9 a.m.–5 p.m.
The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards program, begun in 1923, is "the nation’s longest-running and most prestigious scholarship and recognition initiative for creative teens,” according to the group’s website. Alumni who have received the awards include Richard Avedon, Sylvia Plath and Andy Warhol.
