Broome was seated in a wheelchair during the trial of her husband Michael Parson. He is scheduled to sentenced on Friday.

Parson told police he was at the VA Hospital receiving back treatment on the night Adina Parson was shot in April 2012, the AJC report said. Prosecutors expected his friend, Deontae Robinson, to testify that Parson’s wanted Robinson to impersonate him at the Hospital. Robinson’s testimony was not as strong as it was expected to be, according to the story. However, Fulton County deputy district attorney Linda Dunikoski said cell phone signals put Parson outside of the apartment building just before the shooting, yet he called Adina to come pick him up from the hospital.

Following the shooting, Adina was found lying in blood with the directions to the hospital in her hand, the story said.

Parson was arrested in El Paso, Texas on May 6, 2012 and extradited to Georgia to face charges of attempted murder.

Through testimony from Rachel Harner, the prosecution detailed a romantic relationship between Parson and Harner, a co-worker at a Dunwoody pet store. Harner, a Marine, said she believed the defendant was single and had spinal cancer, the AJC story said.

Harner learned of Parson’s marriage through police and believed Adina was his aunt.
