Police Find Mother Accused of Kidnapping Son During Supervised Visit

Police say the baby was in state custody when he was taken Monday morning by his biological mother, who is known to frequent Sandy Springs.

Buckhead, GA -- Atlanta police are searching for a mother who allegedly kidnapped her 14-month-old son during a supervised visit at a mall on Monday morning.

Sahar Alwadi, 45, allegedly took little Ryan Alwadi out of the mall via Macy’s during a DFACS supervised visit at 11:30 a.m. Monday, a police bulletin states. DFACS told police that Alwadi does not own a vehicle and may have used MARTA to escape the area.

Alwadi is known to frequent the Sandy Springs area, according to the bulletin.

The elder Alwadi stands 5’8” tall and weighs 125 lbs. She was last seen wearing a black jacket, a red t-shirt with gold lettering, gray and black sweat pants, and orange Polo shoes, according to police.

The infant was wearing a gray, white, and blue Calvin Klein sweatshirt, black pants, and white and blue Keds shoes.

Anyone who spots Sahar Alwadi or Ryan Alwadi should call 911 immediately.
