Cars & 'Q For The Cause Returns To Sandy Springs

The 7th annual, award-winning car show kicks off Cystic Fibrosis Foundation's National CF Awareness Campaign.

Choate Construction is revving up into high gear to host their 7th annual Cars & ‘Q for the Cause on Saturday, April 30, at Choate’s Sandy Springs headquarters on Roberts Drive. The award-winning car show, well known for its stellar cars, super BBQ and sweet music, is set on the eve of National Cystic Fibrosis Awareness Month in May and is just one of many fundraisers created by Choate Construction’s employees to support the Georgia Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis (CF) Foundation.

This year’s event will feature a continuous pour of local brews including Lagunitas , The Unknown Brewery Company and Wild Heaven Craft Beer, mouthwatering BBQ by Jim ‘N Nick’s Bar-B-Q, live music by Don McB and more than 100 classic, muscle, exotic cars and bikes. The event draws over 620 attendees with tremendous support from a variety of groups including car lovers, the real estate community, young professionals and the CF community.

Some of the prized rides include multiple award-winning cars, such as a 1935 Auburn Boattail Speedster, which took home top honors at the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance, a 1927 Rolls-Royce, 2015 McLaren 650S, 1931 Duesenberg Roadster, and a 1959 Cadillac Model 62 among others.

Choate President Millard Choate began supporting the CF cause more than 26 years ago when his daughter Emily’s best friend, Leann Rittenbaum, was diagnosed with CF as a toddler. Emily, now marketing director for Choate Construction and the owner of a Classic 1969 Camaro, shares her Dad’s enthusiasm for both a CF cure, classic cars and chairs the event.

“We’re expecting the 2016 Cars & ‘Q for the Cause to be bigger and better than ever, and can’t think of a better way to kick off the CF Foundations’ Great Strides month,” said Emily Bridges. “We’re hopeful the CF cause speaks volumes to our attendees and that they will keep an eye out for other CF Foundation sponsored fundraisers in May. Last year we raised over $175,000 for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and we’re determined to meet our 2016 goal of $190,000 and help cure Cystic Fibrosis.”

Choate Construction has raised over $2 million for CF, and raising funds is a top priority for the construction company with offices in Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. While their efforts have secured their spot as one of the nation’s top corporate fundraising teams for CF, they see tangible results in the CF Foundations’ tremendous strides in research and drug discovery.

”We’ve dramatically improved the lives of those living with CF in the last 34 years by funding basic research, drug discovery and development and improving clinical care through our network of accredited care centers,” said Scot Rittenbaum, Leann’s father and executive director of the Georgia Chapter of the CF Foundation. “Without government funding, we really rely on the great strides of companies like Choate.”
