Sandy Springs residents who have unwanted furniture or certain household appliances taking up space in their homes will soon have a chance to clear out that clutter.

Keep North Fulton Beautiful on Saturday will host its Sandy Springs Bulky Trash Day at the Sandy Springs Recycling Center. From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 25, residents will have the opportunity to recycle, reuse, or dispose of large bulky items not accepted by their waste hauler.

Each year at this event, tens of thousands of pounds of bulky items are recycled, refurbished, or donated, the group said.

​​Items accepted at Saturday’s drive include:

  • Broken, unusable furniture
  • Carpet and rugs
  • Household construction and demolition materials such as sheet rock, window glass, lumber, wood, old cabinets, doors and residential remodeling debris
  • Mattresses
  • Scrap metal or metal items
  • Stoves/washers/dryers

Items that will not be accepted are:

  • Paint
  • Household hazardous waste
  • Fluids including motor oil and anti-freeze
  • Household garbage
  • Tires
  • Concrete, bricks, rock, dirt, sand or cross ties
  • Yard waste (this can be picked up by your usual waste hauler)

This event is for Sandy Springs residents only; no contractors or landscapers will be allowed to participate.
