Know Before You Go: Cozy Corners Cafe Fails Inspection

Cozy Corners Cafe, which is at 6190 Powers Ferry Road, scored a 50, or U on its April 1 inspection.

The restaurant, which sits near Powers Ferry Road’s intersection with Dupree Road in Sandy Springs, was cited for many issues, which were spelled out on its report.

Some of those violations include:

• Observed kitchen hand sink not accessible because it was blocked by trashcan and without hand soap.
• Observed raw shell eggs stored improperly above ready to eat food. Raw eggs, same as raw meat, must be stored below and separated from fruits/vegetables/ready to eat foods.
• Observed mix meat salads above 41 degrees. All stored food must be 41 degrees or lower before being placed on line to serve.
• Observed chemicals and food stored together. Chemicals must be stored in a designated space away from food.
• Facility advised that cooler was not turned on until 11 a.m., but food was in it. coolers must be cold when food is stored in it.
• Observed self-serve salad bar not adequately setup using ice as a coolant. If using ice the container of food must be fully submerged down in the ice.
• Observed raw chicken & pasta salad prepped/stored on same table improperly. Always keep raw meat separated.
• All stored food must have a date to determine when to discard.
• All food handlers must wear head covers.
• Only use sink for its designated use. Mop sink should only be used for cleaning. However, observed dishes in mop sink although there is a sign indicating not to.
• Repair grease trap so that it is fully contained. Using a dish to capture runoff is not allowed.
• Only rodent containers that capture rodents is allowed

A follow-up inspection has been scheduled for Friday, April 8.
