'L'Chaim Sandy Springs' Awarded By Museum Authority
The awarded exhibit is called a "Toast to Jewish Participation In Our City."

From Heritage Sandy Springs:More than 120 museum professionals recently gathered in Rome, Georgia for the annual meeting of the Georgia Association of Museums and Galleries. The Georgia Association of Museums and Galleries (GAMG) is a private, non-profit statewide organization dedicated to encouraging growth and improving professional practices of museums and non-profit galleries throughout the state. The annual conference is an opportunity for museum professionals, board members, volunteers, and supporters to share information and build relationships among museums and galleries throughout the state. The theme of this year’s conference was “Across the Divide: Innovation and Collaboration in the 21st Century Museum.” Attendees participated in a variety of sessions and workshops ranging from developing education programs to designing eye-catching exhibits and visiting with vendors whose products and services target the field.
The highlight of the annual meeting was the GAMG Awards Luncheon, during which representatives from Heritage Sandy Springs accepted the First Place Award in the Special Projects Category 2 for the exhibit “L’Chaim Sandy Springs – A Toast to Jewish Participation in Our City”. The award was presented by GAMG President Jose Santamaria, who stated, “We are very pleased to present this award to a very deserving recipient. Our members represent a good cross section of the museums and galleries in Georgia’s communities, large and small. We are happy to honor institutions, staff members, volunteers, patrons, exhibits, and special projects that have excelled in providing inspiring programs and leadership.”
“L’Chaim Sandy Springs represents an amazing collaboration between Heritage Sandy Springs Staff, Board Members, volunteers, and many others who helped us highlight our Jewish community’s growth and impact on the civic richness of Sandy Springs,” said Carol Thompson, Executive Director of Heritage Sandy Springs. “By partnering with local synagogues, schools, businesses, and the William Breman Jewish Heritage and Holocaust Museum, we were able to engage with our volunteers and local community to tell their story in a thoughtful and meaningful way. We are extremely proud to receive this award from the Georgia Association of Museums and Galleries on behalf of the hundreds of individuals who shared photographs, stories, information, and artifacts, and especially to the dedicated team of volunteers who spent countless hours putting all the pieces together.”
