Leadership Sandy Springs Hires New Director, Development & Events
Sandy Springs resident Alexandra Allen is the founder of Camp Kudzu for children with Type 1 diabetes.

SANDY SPRINGS, GA — Leadership Sandy Springs (LSS) has announced that Alexandra Allen, a Sandy Springs resident and experienced nonprofit executive, has joined the organization’s staff as Director, Development and Events.
In a letter to the LSS board, staff and alumni both Executive Director Jan Paul and Board President, Sandra Jewell, praised Allen for her nonprofit leadership and fundraising experience, most notably as the founder and president (1999-2007) of Camp Kudzu, a nationally recognized organization and summer camp serving children and families affected by type 1 diabetes. From 2007-2017 Allen also served as Camp Kudzu’s Executive Director.
In addition, Allen has served on several nonprofit boards, including the Diabetes Education and Camping Association, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Holy Innocents Episcopal School and Camp Twin Lakes and is the recipient of several community service awards.

A graduate of Emory University with a BA in finance and Latin American studies and an MBA with a focus on finance and economics from the University of New Orleans, Allen and her husband live in Sandy Springs and their three adult children attended school here.
“Alex is very talented and we believe she will be a great asset to Leadership Sandy Springs and our organization’s mission of serving our community. We are thrilled to have Alex on board,” added Paul.
