Gabriel Sterling Wins District 4 Seat

Voters decided today on who will fill District 4 post.

Sandy Springs businessman wins the race for the District 4 City Council seat.  With 811 total votes counted, Sterling led with 614 votes.  Chiteka Jackson has 160 votes and Dennis Williams has 37.

Voter turnout was light. By late morning only six people had showed at North Springs High School to vote in today's special election for the District 4 City Council seat.

"It could be the rain. Could be people don't know about it. Maybe both," said poll manager Connie Pappas, on the light turnout.

About 165 residents had voted at St. Jude's Catholic Church by late afternoon.

"Since the rain stopped, I think more people are turning out,” said Barry Garner, director of Fulton County Registration and Elections. I think we’ll have our 10 percent turnout, which is what we expected. There are 7,500 registered voters in this district.”
