On Thursday, Feb. 25, Leadership Sandy Springs will host its second annual Live, Learn, Lead…Sandy Springs, featuring nationally-recognized demographics and economic diversity expert Dr. Jim Johnson.

Johnson is the William R. Kenan Jr. Distinguished Professor of Strategy and Entrepreneurship and Director of the Urban Investment Strategies Center at the University of North Carolina.

Dr. Johnson will discuss the profound trends and major implications for our community and the region. Topics of his presentation will include:

  • The South rises again – economic development in the Southeast
  • The “Browning” of America – integration of diverse cultures
  • The Silver Tsunami will hit – impact on workforce development
  • The End of Men – effects on disadvantaged youth, education and business

Dr. Johnson’s professional interests include community and development, the effects of demographic changes on the U.S. workplace, interethnic minority conflict in advanced industrial societies, urban poverty and public policy in urban America, and workforce diversity issues.

His insights have provided influence and guidance for many communities to create positive change, opening up new possibilities for social and economic development.

Dr. Johnson will examine how six demographic trends will reshape a community’s development and business environment. He will discuss workplace diversity, poverty, education, and inter-ethnic challenges, and he will provide insights on how communities can create positive change and open up new possibilities for social and economic development.

Live, Learn, Lead will be held at Holy Innocents’ Episcopal Church, which is located at 805 Mt. Vernon Highway. The even is open to the public though seating is limited.

Networking and heavy appetizers begin at 6 p.m. and the program starts at 7 p.m. The cost is $25 for LSS members and $30 for non-members.
