Volunteers Give Thousands of Hours to Help Neighbors in Need
Volunteers of the Community Assistance Center (CAC) were recently celebrated at the nonprofit’s annual volunteer appreciation luncheon. Each year CAC takes a day to thank volunteers for giving their time to help neighbors in need. Dozens of volunteers were recognized for reaching service milestones of 5, 10 and 20 years. Others were recognized for their special contributions. All were thanked for their service and dedication! The luncheon was hosted at Temple Sinai on April 21, 2017.
Dedicated CAC volunteers help to serve 2,500 families a year seeking assistance in emergency situations with rent, utilities, food and clothing. More than 300 people volunteer their time on a regular basis to work in various areas of the Center. In addition, more than 1,300 people with 126 groups volunteered at CAC in the past year. Groups from businesses, schools, congregations and civic organizations lend manpower to help with projects and events. In all, volunteers provided almost 34,000 hours of service valued at $800,000 in 2016!
CAC is currently in need of volunteers to serve as merchandise pricers in the Boutique thrift shop, front desk support, food pick-up drivers and adult education teachers. Other volunteer opportunities are also available. Please contact Debbie at volunteer@ourcac.org.
