Los Niños Primero Receives $3,000 Grant

The grant will support the Sandy Springs organization's parent education program, which assists caretakers of Latino children.

SANDY SPRINGS, GA -- Delta Community Credit Union recently awarded $13,000 in grants from its Philanthropic Fund to organizations located near its branch in Sandy Springs.

Area organizations that received this generous gesture from the credit union include:

  • Los Niños Primero (Children First) received $3,000 to support its Parent Program. This program provides education to the parents of disadvantaged Latino preschool students so they can encourage and support learning at home.
  • Assistance League of Atlanta received $6,000 to fund its Operation School Bell®, which provides new clothes to more than 120 impoverished elementary and middle school children in Atlanta-area schools.
  • FOCUS (Families of Children Under Stress) accepted an award of $4,000 to support social and life skills development for children with significant developmental or physical disabilities.

Throughout 2017, the Delta Community Philanthropic Fund will invest a total of $100,000 in 22 metro Atlanta nonprofit organizations which support the physical and financial needs of people who live within the communities we serve.

“By investing in organizations like these, we support families and communities, and that ultimately benefits our members,” said Delta Community CEO Hank Halter. “We appreciate the great work done by these organizations, and we hope these grants help them continue providing valuable services to families in need.”

According to its website, Los Niños Primero works to provide Latino families and children with the tools they need to be successful in school.
