Police Identify Man Found Dead On Sidewalk

Detectives with the Sandy Springs Police Department are investigating an apparent homicide that occurred Thursday afternoon in the northern part of the city.

Police responded just after 4 p.m. July 23 to the shooting at 3 Cedar Run, which sits off Dunwoody Place.

Sandy Springs police spokesperson Sgt. Forrest Bohannon said a man, identified as 22-year-old Ricardo Hernandez Ovalle of Alpharetta, was found deceased on the sidewalk with at least one gunshot wound to his body.

Bohannon added the suspect has been identified as a “Hispanic male,” and detectives are working on leads to identify this person of interest. A motive in the shooting has not been determined, Sgt. Bohannon added.
