Man Robbed At Gunpoint While Using ATM In Sandy Springs

The victim said the male subject, who brandished a black handgun, snatched the $100 he was trying to deposit at Wells Fargo bank.

SANDY SPRINGS, GA -- Sandy Springs investigators continue to work the case of a man brandishing a firearm and robbing a resident of cash he was trying to deposit into his bank account at an ATM.

Sandy Springs police were dispatched around 1:07 a.m. July 23 to the robbery at Wells Fargo at 8725 Roswell Road. The victim said he pulled into the parking lot at the same time a gray or dark-colored four-door Chevrolet sedan arrived at the bank.

The vehicle parked in front of the bank while he went to the ATM on the side of the building. According to an incident report released by the police department, the victim was trying to deposit $100 in cash when a male came up to his driver's side door and said, "give me your money and your phone."

The victim told the male subject he didn't have anything. In response, the male subject brandished a small black handgun he pulled from his right pants pocket, the report states.

"The victim stated that the male then reached up to the ATM and took his money before he could insert it," the incident report states.

The subject took the money and ran back to the car, which peeled out of the parking lot to go southbound on Roswell Road. The incident report notes the robbery matches the same set of events that took place around 12:33 a.m. July 22.

The victim in that case did not want to report the incident to police, the report adds. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers Atlanta at 404-577-8477.
