The following information was taken from the Sandy Springs Police Department's Weekly Wrap Up.

SANDY SPRINGS, GA -- Editor’s note: the following incidents were taken from the Sandy Springs Police Department’s Weekly Wrap Up compiled by Capt. Steve Rose, which contains some — not all — of the incidents that occurred Jan. 7-11:

Arrests

  • 5570 Roswell Road, 30342, 1/9 (Target): A man was arrested after stealing $80 in electronic items.
  • 201 Northwood Drive, 30342, 1/10: Just before 11 p.m. a woman pulled into her apartment complex when two men described as a black and Hispanic, along with a white female, argued in the roadway. The black male retrieved a long rifle from his car and then robbed the victim of $10. The suspect took the victim from the car and shook her. The suspect became angry and threw the money back at her. She left in her car and called the police. Upon receiving the lookout on the suspect, a patrol officer spotted a car matching the description of the suspect’s car at the Shell station at 5700 Roswell Road, very close to the incident location. The officer spotted the man he thought was the driver on the far side of the station. The man turned and walked towards the officer but was told to stop where he was — which of course he ignored and kept walking towards the officer. He was then secured by officers and later identified as the suspect who robbed the victim. He was charged with several felonies including robbery, possession of a firearm during a felony, cruelty to children (the victim had a 1-year-old child in the car at the time of the robbery). The gun was recovered, a .22 rifle. Another weapon, a BB-gun, was also confiscated.
  • 1117 Perimeter Center West, 30328, 1/11: Around 9 a.m. a female employee reported she was walking down a hallway in an office building when she saw a man described as a black male, and who had his penis exposed, sitting on the ground next to the women’s bathroom. The man was detained by security and later arrested.
  • 8725 Roswell Road, 30350, 1/11 (Publix): Security observed and detained a man who stole $37 in store items and then attempted to leave without paying. He was arrested.
