Masked Suspects Steal Cigarettes From Sandy Springs Grocery Store

Sandy Springs detectives are on the hunt for three men accused of marching into a grocery store and stealing several cartons of cigarettes.

According to an incident report released by the Sandy Springs Police Department, three suspects wearing dark clothes and white masks over their faces walked into Kroger at 4920 Roswell Road around 2:45 a.m. Friday May 1.

The suspects made a beeline to the glass counter where cigarettes are housed and one of the men carrying a hammer “damaged the locked counter containing the cigarettes,” the responding officer wrote in the report.

An unknown number of Newport and Kool cigarette cartons allegedly were stolen from the store, the report states.

Employees at the store told officers the perpetrators were all black men who varied in height and weight. However, the three men were wearing dark clothing with hoods and masks, concealing most of their facial and physical features.

The employees also said the suspects got away in what appeared to be a Pontiac G6. The report notes the suspects were not in the store for more than a couple of minutes.
