During Sandy Springs’ mid-year budget review with City Council, on Tuesday, Recreation and Parks director Ronnie Young, said closing the park is necessary to safely maneuver heavy equipment.

“We’ve got cement pillars holding these [shades] that are nine feet into the ground,” he said. “If at some point we see that heavy equipment is out of there, we’ll open immediately. We’re putting up signage to ask people to track us on the [city] website.”
