The $1.75 million project will install a new sidewalk system on the road from the existing sidewalk near the Laurels at Overlook Park Apartments down to Morgan Falls Overlook Park, a distance of just over a half-mile.
The project also includes the installation of a storm drainage system, associated retaining walls, as well as road curbing and driveways.

The roughly seven-month long construction effort begins with the installation of protective erosion control measures and addition of the storm drainage system. Retaining wall construction will also begin in mid-September.
This work will involve “significant lane closures” throughout the project life cycle, with the bulk of work planned to take place during the business week, the city added.
Motorists are asked to exercise extreme caution when headed to and from the park.
With the completion of this phase of the project, paving is planned for Morgan Falls Road in the spring 2016. Landscaping, informational signage and supplemental stormwater quality features are also planned activities for 2016.
Updates on the project can be found on the city’s website, under the Residents tab, using the Road Projects link. The city will also post updates on its Facebook page.
