Movies By Moonlight To Show "Despicable Me 2" on Friday

The second installment of the 10th annual Movies By Moonlight starts at 6 p.m. at Sandy Springs United Methodist Church.

The second installment of Leadership Sandy Springs’ 10th annual Movies By Moonlight will be held on Friday with a showing of “Despicable Me 2.”

Residents are invited to come to the free block party, which was proven to be a success with last month’s showing of “Frozen.”

Shown on the terraced lawn of Sandy Springs United Methodist Church’s activity center, attendees can spread a blanket to watch the film on a huge inflatable screen.

Gates open at 6 p.m. for guests to bring a picnic dinner or purchase one from food trucks Yumbii or Chef Rob’s Caribbean Cafe. Enjoy concessions, games, entertainment from North Springs Charter High School Chorus, Cinemoms (a movie club for moms AND dads) and a minion cupcake giveaway from Young Chef’s Academy.

There will be a Kids Zone for the younger set in which representatives from the Atlanta Hawks will feature pop-a-shots and corn hole boards, Jumpstart Gym will spot tumbling activities, and a bouncy castle will be open for two hours. The movie begins at dark, which will be around 8 p.m.

The final installment for Movies By Moonlight will be held on Friday, Sept. 26, and organizers will show “How to Train Your Dragon 2.”
