Opening night for Leadership Sandy Springs’ 11th annual Movies By Moonlight is just around the corner -- literally.

The 2015 series kicks off Friday, Aug. 21 with a screening of 2015 Oscar-winning animated film “Big Hero 6.”
The movie features a child robotics prodigy named Hiro who activates a balloon-like robot named Baymax. The pair, with a band of four other science whiz-kid friends, form a superhero team and take on an evil masked villain.

Known as the best block party in Sandy Springs, this free event on the lawn of Sandy Springs United Methodist Church Activities Center, brings back the nostalgia and fun of the outdoor cinema with fun, games and food.
The gates will open at 6 p.m., and the movies are shown at dark on a huge inflatable screen.
Guests have free range of family-friendly games in the Kids Zone, including inflatable bounce houses, obstacle course and tumbling with Jump Start Gym, exploration in the Sandy Springs fire station’s Touch-A-Truck area, memberships and specialty giveaways with Cinemoms, a movie club for parents, and other games, novelty items, and drawings by various vendors.
New this year for the adults is High Octane Events’ exotic car display. Dinner for purchase is available from food trucks Yumbii, and Dogs on Wheels as well as Chick-Fil-A. Residents are encouraged to bring a blanket and cooler to the event.
Upcoming movie events include: “Home” on Aug. 28 and “Cinderella” on Sept. 25. The activity center lawn is across the church at 86 Mt. Vernon Highway in Sandy Springs.
