Here are the top three stories today in Sandy Springs:
- Sandy Springs City Council has reappointed Donald Schaefer as a municipal court judge. Schaefer will now serve an additional four years with the city. He will be overseeing arraignments for various traffic and development code violations. Jury trials will be conducted in the county's State Court. (The Atlanta Journal-Constitution)
- Kentavious Wright has been booked into the Fulton County Jail for allegedly shooting at a toddler and his father. Wright has been charged with criminal attempts to commit murder, aggravated assault, first-degree cruelty to children, and multiple gang-related charges. It is unclear how the department connected Wright to the shooting. (AJC.com)
- Atlanta-based Rapper Paper Lovee (Ibnissa Durr) has been sentenced to more than seven years in federal prison for possessing a firearm after a felony sentence. The rapper was investigated through a joint effort of the Sandy Springs Police Department and the Atlanta Police Department. The two departments want this case to serve as a warning to felons to not possess illegal firearms. (U.S. Department of Justice)
