New Tool Shows Crime Reports In Sandy Springs Apartments
The map, unveiled on Tuesday, allows users to view the number of crimes reported in each of the city's apartment complexes.
SANDY SPRINGS, GA -- Have you ever wondered which apartment complexes in Sandy Springs have had issues with crime within the last year?
If that has ever crossed your mind, or if you're a resident looking to move into the city, then a new tool introduced this week serves to answer that burning question in the back of your mind.
The city on Tuesday unveiled an Apartment Safety Checker Guide, which allows citizens to compare criminal activity in any of the city's roughly 70 apartment complexes.

Created in partnership with the Sandy Springs Police Department, the map lists the number of incidents reported within individual apartment communities.

Included as part of the data are part-one offenses, such as murder, rape robbery, aggravated assault, theft, motor vehicle theft, arson, narcotics offenses, as well as reports of disorderly conduct and loitering.prowling.

Users should note that any unfounded reports of crime are excluded from the totals.
City spokesperson Sharon Kraun said the categories used stems from the most-requested information submitted by residents looking for data for any particular apartment complex.
If you don't want to fiddle with a map, the city also has compiled a list where you can view a ranking of the apartment complexes
