"Having an additional facility for these key functions enables us to drive future growth and innovation for our new portfolio of leading brands," he added.
Nicole Quinlan, senior manager of global communications for Newell, said while the new headquarters will move to the northeast, "we will remain committed to our operations" in Sandy Springs.
"Atlanta will continue to be the business hub for the Newell Rubbermaid Group," she said. "Our decision to establish headquarters in Hoboken reflects our commitment to building a great, new company following our combination with Jarden Corporation, which formed a $16 billion consumer goods powerhouse."
The Sandy Springs office employs about 1,000 employees, Quinlan stated.
The New Jersey Economic Development Authority worked closely with Newell Brands to structure $27 million in tax incentives which will help offset the costs associated with the new facility. Newell estimates the build out for itsn ew headquarters should be complete by the fall.
Along with Sandy Springs, it notes it will maintain its hubs in Boca Raton and Norwalk as well as its design center in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
“Our choice to locate these capabilities in our new headquarters represents our commitment to scaling these strategic growth drivers for the size and potential of our new company," Polk added. "Our new location will unlock tremendous access to talent in these areas as we build a new future together."
