Davis was notified earlier this week about the endorsement in a letter penned by State Director Kyle Jackson.
“Your knowledge and sensitivity to business issues were key factors in our endorsement process,” Jackson stated. “I believe, based on your candidate questionnaire score and our discussions regarding key legislative issues, you will be a positive and proactive voice on behalf of Georgia’s small businesses.”
House District 80 covers almost all of Brookhaven, and portions of Sandy Springs and Chamblee.
Davis, a Republican, led the effort to create the city of Brookhaven and was elected its inaugural mayor in 2012. Under Georgia law, a candidate cannot hold elected office when seeking another, so David had to resigned from the office of mayor.
