North Springs Community Meeting Set For March 8

SANDY SPRINGS, GA — Fulton County Schools will hold its next community meeting for the North Springs Charter High School renovation/addition project later this week. The meeting, which is open to all community members will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, March 8 in the school's media center.

Under Capital Plan 2022, North Springs is slated to receive a major addition and renovation that includes instructional areas such as new science labs, auditorium, black box theater, art rooms, music suite, and physical education space.

Upgraded fire alarms, improved parking, traffic circulation and exterior drainage also are included in the improvements as well as new tennis courts, stadium turf, and a replacement running track surface. The $18.7 million project is being funded as part of the eSPLOST referendum that Fulton County voters approved in 2016 (For more news like this, find your local Patch here. During Feb. 26-28, Christian Long of the visioning firm Wonder, by Design, led students, teachers, parents and community members in a variety of exercises that focused on shaping and identifying a vision for the school’s curriculum and culture. Themes and key findings from those meetings will be presented at the March 8 meeting, with the data given as recommendations to architect CDH Partners to use when designing concepts for the school’s future improvements.

The school system said it's aware that Thursday's meeting conflicts with its North Fulton safety meeting at Centennial High School. It's unable to change the date of the North Springs meeting due to the travel schedule of the presenter. Parents and stakeholders should note the safety meeting will be videotaped and posted to the school system's facebook page. If you wish to attend the safety meeting in person, a similar meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 6 at Banneker High School.
