North Springs Drama Students Present 'Animal Farm'

The production runs Nov. 30 through Dec. 9 at the school's Black Box Theater.

SANDY SPRINGS, GA -- North Springs Charter High School's award-winning drama magnet will bring "Animal Farm," based on the George Orwell classic novel, to the stage at the school’s Black Box theater.

The show kicks off Thursday, Nov. 30 and runs through Dec. 9.

“We are really excited about this show,” said Joel King, drama teacher and the show’s director. “It’s a great satire and parable about the dangers of totalitarianism, where the animals on the farm drive out their master and take over and run the farm themselves. Eventually the pigs become the leaders, but their character unfortunately doesn’t match their intelligence.

“We’ve got a great cast, amazing set and the costuming for the animals is a unique collaboration between our tech theater students and sculpture 3 art students. It’s going to be a cool show– the students are working really hard and love performing in the intimacy of the Black Box.”

Performances are scheduled for 7 p.m. Nov. 30, Dec. 1-2, Dec. 7-9 and 3 p.m. Dec. 3 and Dec. 9. Tickets are $5 for students, $10 for residents age 60 and older and $15 for adults. They can be purchased online at www.northspringstickets.com or at the theater one hour before the curtain rises -- although seating may be limited.
