North Springs FBLA Wins Gold Superior Chapter of the Year Award

The school's Future Business Leaders of America chapter has grown from 60 to 200 members in four years.

SANDY SPRINGS, GA -- North Springs Charter High School Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) returned from their recent state leadership conference with a record-setting achievement: 20 Top 10 state finalists, seven national finalists and the 2016 award for Gold Superior Chapter of the Year, an award they won for the first time, last year.

FBLA co-advisors, business teacher and semi-finalist for State New Advisor of the Year, Brian Patterson, and web and digital design teacher Sallie Holloway, who won State New Advisor of the Year in 2015, said they are thrilled with their club’s success.

“We are so proud of our students and their hard work," Holloway said. "In just four years we’ve grown from 60 members to over 200 members – and from having no national qualifiers to not only national qualifiers, but national Top 10 finalists."

Heading to nationals will be four state first-place winners: in Business Plan - Sophie Frostbaum, Tanaka Chipere-Chitiyo, and Morgan Tatje and in Sales Presentation -Barnett Buchanan; five second-place state finalists: in Management Decision Making –Jordan Robinson, in Sales Presentation - Vincent Dukes and in Business Financial Plan – the team of Frostbaum, Chipere-Chitiyo and Tatje and the fourth-place state finalist in Desktop Application Programming - Ohad Rau.

Four additional North Springs teams finished in the state Top 10, including Jon Jon Perkins, Ayo Bolaji, and Dean McEntyre, placing sixth in e-Business; Nathan Cohen, Max Winter, and Noah Lampert, placing sixth in Sports and Entertainment Management; Isaac Chambers and Dajee Lyles, placing seventh in Social Media Campaign; and Jaelin Hakim, Robert Lalo, Ariyana Perkins, and Nazha Christie, placing ninth in local chapter annual report.

North Springs’ FBLA is a member of Georgia FBLA, considered the premier organization for student leaders interested in careers in business; it is also the largest state chapter with over 25,000 students.

In turn, Georgia FBLA is an affiliate of Future Business Leaders of America-Phi Beta Lambda, Inc., the oldest and largest student business organization in the world with more than 250,000 members. At this summer’s National Leadership Convention in Atlanta, over 14,000 students from across the nation are expected, and at least seven competitors will be Spartans from North Springs.
