“It's a win-win for all involved," said Patterson. “The Credit Union feels it has gained great employees.
The students have gained real world work experience along with a pay check, and North Springs has gained a supportive community partner in providing internship opportunities in our program that is the largest in the school system.”

“The students from North Springs have been amazing,” agrees branch manager Raj Subramanian. “They have been professional, personable and very responsible employees. We’ve offered them all jobs after graduation.”

“Our first intern Shura Lomanova set the bar for us. She continued to work here after graduating from North Springs and began college. Then she moved and our location was just too far for her, Zephyr (Strosnider) is at Georgia Tech but Perla is still with us! “

Perla Nunez has continued working as a teller at the Sandy Springs branch since graduating in 2015. Now a sophomore at Georgia State, the business major hopes to pursue a career in international law, and says she “loves working at the Credit Union. It has definitely helped me a lot. I’ve become more mature, I’ve learned more about adult life, and about business and finance. I’ve also learned to be more patient,” she laughed. “My job requires a lot of customer service.”

North Springs senior Aidya Shorts is the newest intern. A dance magnet student who wants to pursue
business and public relations in college, she is also thrilled to be at the Sandy Springs branch. “It is my first job ever and everyone has been very welcoming, Raj is a great manager.”

According to Patterson, Shorts also stopped a case of fraud. “I saw a red flag and thought a check could be fraudulent,” she said. “She brought it to my attention,” said Subramanian, “and thanks to her, we were able to stop a transaction. We hope Aidya will be able to continue working here when she is in college too.
