North Springs Student-Athletes Commit to Collegiate Programs

Three North Springs student-athletes will continue their academic and athletic careers at the collegiate level, representing the school in baseball, softball, and basketball.

Kate Lott Commits to University of Chicago Softball

North Springs senior Kate Lott has committed to play softball for the University of Chicago. She was recruited as a pitcher for the Maroons, who compete in the University Athletic Association.

A four-year starter on the Spartans varsity softball team and co-captain during her senior year, Kate was named the Region 5-4A Pitcher of the Year in 2024. She also earned First Team All-Region honors in both 2024 and 2025. She helped lead North Springs to regional playoff appearances in three of her four seasons. She also competed on multiple national travel teams throughout high school and was selected for the All-Academic Games in Colorado during the past two years. Known for her precision in the circle, Kate allowed only four home runs and nine walks among 340 batters faced during her most recent travel season.

Academically, she ranks among the Top 10 students in the North Springs Class of 2026, and completed the requirements to earn dual Magnet diploma seals in both Math and Science and Visual and Performing Arts. Kate will also receive the International Skills Diploma Seal for Latin and the Fine Arts Diploma Seal. She serves as president of the National Honor Society and Tri-M Music Honor Society and is also active in North Springs’ theatre and music programs. Kate plans to pursue a degree in psychology before attending medical school to become a psychiatrist.

“The University of Chicago is the perfect blend for my academic goals and my love of softball,” she noted. “I’m excited to continue my passion for softball at the collegiate level and look forward to cold Chicago winters.”

Leila Madesko Commits to Lasell University Basketball

North Springs senior Leila Madesko has committed to play basketball for Lasell University in Newton, Massachusetts. Leila was recruited as a guard and will compete in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference.

A four-year varsity starter, Leila served as a team captain and earned All-Region honors during the past two seasons. In addition to basketball, she participated in softball, soccer, and flag football and has been involved in HOSA-Future Health Professionals.

Leila said Lasell felt like the right fit from the beginning. “The coaches are supportive, the team culture is strong, and I can see myself growing both on and off the court there.” She plans to major in business management.

Josh Streeter Commits to Lander University Baseball

North Springs senior Josh Streeter has committed to play baseball for Lander University in Greenwood, South Carolina. He was recruited as an outfielder for the Bearcats, who compete in the Peach Belt Conference.

A four-year varsity starter for North Springs, Josh earned All-Region honors throughout his high school career, including Second Team recognition as a sophomore and First Team honors as a junior. He was also named North Springs Offensive Player of the Year during his junior season.

In addition to his success with the Spartans, Josh played for 6-4-3 DP Baseball and earned a spot on the organization’s 2024-2025 All-Offensive Team.

He is a Magnet diploma student, serves on the National Honor Society, and has maintained a high A average throughout high school. Josh credits his coaches at both North Springs and 6-4-3 DP Baseball for helping him develop as a player and supporting him throughout the recruiting process.

Josh plans to major in business and hopes to someday own his own company. He said Lander stood out as the perfect fit both academically and athletically, and he looks forward to competing for a strong program with an outstanding coaching staff. “Next year, I’m excited to join the team with the hopes of winning a conference title and more.”

North Springs Athletic Director Keith Thomas said the three student-athletes represent the very best of the school community. “Our athletic program takes great pride in developing students who excel both in competition and in the classroom, and Josh, Kate, and Leila have done exactly that,” Thomas said. “Each of them has shown tremendous dedication, leadership, and character throughout their time at North Springs. We are excited to see all they accomplish at the collegiate level and know they will continue to make our school proud.”
