North Springs Students Win Big at National FBLA Conference

North Springs Charter High School’s Future Business Leaders of America members Teriayana Cohens and Justin Fleischmann were national winners at the 2014 National FBLA Leadership Conference, held in Nashville, Tennessee over the summer.

With over 10,000 students attending, this national conference was the largest and most competitive in history.

Cohens was part of the winning team to place sixth in the nation in Hospitality Management and Fleischmann’s team placed eighth in Sports and Entertainment Management. Spartans JR Stein and Michael Couch, State 1st place winners in Management Decision Making competed also.

The national competitive events program sponsored by FBLA recognizes and rewards excellence in a broad range of business and career-related areas. For many students, the competitive events are the capstone activity of their academic careers.
At the state level, North Springs’ FBLA received the 2014 Bronze Georgia chapter of the year award, 100 Member Club recognition and was a Top 10 Battle of the Chapters finalist.

“North Springs FBLA members worked hard last year to grow as a chapter and to prepare for competitive events,” said Sallie Holloway, North Springs’ FBLA adviser and teacher. “Our members are enthusiastic about what FBLA offers them from the local to national level; it really is a wonderful organization. Three of our national attendees this year were graduated seniors who were adamant about recruiting young members – they wish they had taken advantage of FBLA’s opportunities when they were underclassmen. We are proud of all our members and are looking forward to an even better upcoming year.”
