Northside Hospital Offers Free Prostate Screening On Sept. 14

Registration is required to take part in the screening, which will be held at the Northside Hospital Cancer Center in Sandy Springs.

SANDY SPRING, GA -- Next week, Northside Hospital's Cancer Institute will offer a free screening to determine a man's risk for developing prostate cancer.

September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, and the screenings will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 14 at the Northside Hospital Cancer Center in Sandy Springs.

The screening is administered by health care professionals and includes a prostate-specific antigen (PSA) blood test. Those eligible to take part in the screening are men ages 45 to 75 who have not been diagnosed with prostate cancer and have not had an exam within the past year. Aside from skin cancer, prostate cancer remains the most frequently diagnosed cancer in men, Northside Hospital states. During the screening, a nurse navigator will be able to arrange follow-up care, if indicated.

Spanish interpreters will also be available free of charge during the screening. Registration is required to confirm your time at the screening and can be done by calling 404-531-4444 to schedule an appointment.
