Northside Hospital Partners With Komen Atlanta 3-Day

SANDY SPRINGS, GA - From Northside Hospital: Northside Hospital Cancer Institute will serve as the official medical partner of the Susan G. Komen Atlanta 3-Day®, Oct. 12-14, 2018.

Northside Hospital coordinates medical services from physicians and nurses who will provide basic first aid and other medical support for the hundreds of walkers expected to make the 60-mile trek from Stone Mountain and around Atlanta to raise awareness of the fight against breast cancer.

“We will be with you the whole three days, supporting you as you inspire us with every mile,” said Medical Oncologist Dr. Hiba Tamim, who will be leading Northside’s team of volunteers and is a past participant of the Atlanta 3-Day®.

“To each walker, your commitment to raise $2,300, if not more, to help in the fight against breast cancer is amazing,” added Dr. Tamim. “That you have committed to walking 60 miles in three days is bold!”

Every two minutes, one case of breast cancer is diagnosed in a woman in the U.S. More new cases of breast cancer are diagnosed and treated at Northside Hospital Cancer Institute than anywhere else in the Souteast.

Seventy-five percent of the net proceeds raised by the Komen 3-Day help Susan G. Komen® support the global research program and other mission objectives, while the remaining 25 percent helps Affiliates support local programs including medical assistance, patient navigation and provider education.
