Trial Under Way in Case of Sandy Springs Man Accused of Shooting Wife

Michael Parson is accused of shooting Adina Parson several times outside of the couple's Morgan Falls apartment in Sandy Springs, in April 2012.

 

Jury selection is under way in the case against a Sandy Springs man accused of shooting and critically injuring his wife. A media release from the Fulton County District Attorney's office said, 43-year-old Michael Parson is charged with Criminal Attempt to Commit Murder, Aggravated Battery (two counts) and three counts of Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Felony.

Parson is accused of opening fire on 41-year-old Adina Parson on April 20, 2012 outside of the couple’s Morgan Falls apartment in Sandy Springs. The victim was struck eight times and sustained injuries to her head, arms, torso and legs. She was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital where she remained in intensive care for several weeks. Mrs. Parson survived her injuries but is still critically impaired.

Following an extensive investigation, detectives developed Michael Parson as a suspect in his wife’s shooting. Parson was arrested in El Paso, Texas on May 6, 2012 and extradited to Georgia to face charges of attempted murder in connection with his wife’s shooting.

The case is being heard by presiding Fulton County Superior Court Judge Kelly Amanda Lee. Opening statements are expected to begin Tuesday morning.
