Orthopedic Sports Medicine Center Opens In Sandy Springs

From Northside Hospital Healthcare System: The Orthopedic Sports Medicine Center of Atlanta is expanding its reach in North Fulton with a new location in Sandy Springs.

The full-service orthopedic practice that specializes in the diagnosis, treatment and management of sports injuries and musculoskeletal disorders opened its newest location in the Doctors Centre adjacent to Northside Hospital, at 960 Johnson Ferry Road NE, Suite 415, Atlanta. Dr. Alonzo Sexton, who recently joined the practice, began seeing patients at the new office April 10.

“I believe that physical inactivity is the greatest public health risk of this generation,” said Dr. Sexton. “As health care providers, we have a moral obligation to educate patients about the perils of this disease and provide structured guidance to eradicate it.”

Dr. Sexton is a board-certified orthopedic sports medicine surgeon and specializes in the operative and non-operative treatment of sports related injuries and musculoskeletal disorders of the upper and lower extremities. He is skilled in the latest treatment modalities in sports medicine and has particular expertise in minimally invasive arthroscopic treatment of shoulder, knee and elbow conditions, robotic knee resurfacing and shoulder replacements.

“Our good health is the single most important modifiable factor affecting an individual’s quality of life,” Dr. Sexton added.

Dr. Sexton has extensive experience treating athletes of all levels, from recreational to professional. Prior to joining The Orthopedic Sports Medicine Center of Atlanta, he served as a team physician with the University of Georgia for more than 10 years. He also has been a team physician for the New York Jets.
