UPDATE: Pedestrian Killed on I-285 in Sandy Springs
The body was found on I-285 westbound at Roswell Road around 6:30 a.m. Thursday.

UPDATE at 9:50 a.m.: The Georgia Department of Transportation states the accident on I-285 westbound at Roswell Road has just been cleared, according to its Georgia 511 website. However, the agency notes there’s still a 7-mile back up and a 60-minute delay in the area.
Motorists in the ara are still advised to use alternate routes to avoid delays.

The Sandy Springs Police Department has shut down all westbound lanes of Interstate 285 at Roswell Road due to a fatal accident on the major thoroughfare.
According to the Georgia Department of Transportation, the entrance ramps to I-285 westbound from S.R. 400 northbound and southbound are also closed due to the accident. Sandy Springs police spokesperson Sgt. Ron Momon said the call came in about the body in the roadway around 6:30 a.m.

GDOT said there is no estimated time as to when the lanes will be cleared, and motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes at this time.
