Photography Exhibit Opens at Ventulett Gallery

Photographer Judy Morris Lampert presents exhibit "The Galápagos Reimagined" opening Oct. 1 and running through Nov. 6.

The Ventulett Gallery at Holy Innocents Episcopal Church welcomes Judy Morris Lampert on Oct. 1 at 6-8 p.m. for the opening of her exhibit, “The Galápagos Reimagined.” The event is open to the public, and the exhibit can be viewed during church hours through Nov. 6.

Lampert is an Atlanta-based artist who works in fine art photography and has traveled throughout the world, photographing people and places. While in the Archipiélago de Colón, Ecuador (or the Galápagos Islands) in 2009, Lampert was captivated by the primordial feel of the landscape that still exists there today.

“I felt as if I had stepped back in time,” she said. The images presented in this exhibit were printed using a “split tone effect” to portray this experience. (To split tone is to add color into either the shadows or the highlights of a photo, or both.)

Lampert’s current work has taken her throughout the South, where she is photographing buildings as portraits and capturing an intimate sense of what each structure is about.

She is represented by Barbara Archer Gallery of Atlanta.
