Photos: Homeowner Barely Escapes Before Moving Van Slams Into Living Room

Sandy Springs Police investigated an accident just after 12 p.m., on Monday, in the 5600 block of Colton Drive involving a moving van that rolled 200 yards down a steep hill and slammed into a home located at the end of the Cul de sac.

The van, owned by Mark the Movers, Inc., was parked curbside on the steep hill, facing down. Movers were loading the van at the home at 5635 Colton Drive. Two workers were in the storage area of the van when it broke free of its brakes and chocks and rolled.
One employee jumped, the other remained in the van's storage compartment until it slammed into the home at 5667 Colton Drive, at the bottom of the hill some 200 yards away.

The owner of the home was sitting in his living room when he heard the noise outside. He told officers that he saw the truck coming his way and fled the room just before the truck slammed through, coming to rest several feet inside the living room area. No one was injured in the accident. Investigators have not determined the exact cause of the accident.
No charges have been filed at this time.
