Commissioners handed down the decision at their April 21 meeting to recommend denial of a request from Parc Communities, LLC to rezone property located at 6025 and 6029 Glenridge Drive from R-2 (single family dwelling) to A-L (apartment limited dwelling) to accommodate a 201-unit senior housing community.
Parc Communities also requested two use permits to increase the maximum height of one building to 75 feet and to allow senior housing within the A-L district. The company also sought variances related to landscaping, reduction in parking spaces and buffers.

City staff members recommended denial of the plan, which would encompass four buildings, a concrete parking deck and an open-air pool and amenity area.
Chip Collins, attorney for the applicant, previously told Patch the proposal would include a "very upscale" mix of 1- and 2-bedroom units, bistro, exercise and activities room, a resident lounge and game room, swimming pool and structured parking.
The property is owned by Apostles Church of Sandy Springs, which is seeking to move to another location. The case will be heard by the Sandy Springs City Council at its Tuesday, May 17 meeting.
