Police Blotter: 2 Women Robbed At Gunpoint Behind Club

SANDY SPRINGS, GA -- Editor’s note: the following incidents were taken from the Sandy Springs Police Department’s Weekly Wrap Up compiled by Capt. Steve Rose, which contains some — not all — of the incidents that occurred April 11-13:

Robbery
- 8753 Roswell Road, 30350, 4/11: A 49-year-old man said he was robbed by a man whom he knew, while he and his girlfriend were in the parking lot of Arby’s. The victim said he knew the man, his phone number, and he even knew the two other men who drove the suspect away in their car. The victim said the man hit him in the head and stole his Nokia cellphone.
- 6075 Roswell Road, 30328, 4/11: Around 1:30 a.m. two women reported they were robbed at the rear of the Taboo 2 Club. They were in the car putting on makeup when two man came up on them and demanded their purses, phones, and a leather jacket. One of the women was injured when one suspect hit her twice on the head with his pistol. The suspects were described as follows: Two black males, 30’s, black skull cap with short dreadlocks, black t-shirt, and both had pistols. They left in a red SUV.
Burglary

- 8725 Roswell Road (Northridge Enterprises), 30350, 4/11 (6 p.m. to 9 a.m.): The victim reported a burglar forced entry to the vacant business next door and then into his via a wall. The man was on video and described as male, race unknown, two-tone hooded jacket and white shoes.
- 4000 block of Dudley Lane, 30328, 4/11 (Reported a week later): The complainant reported that a home, currently unoccupied, was entered and several items were taken including a refrigerator, lumber, two planters, a Husqvama backpack blower, chainsaw, and other renovation supplies.
- 6300 block of Peachtree Dunwoody Road, 30328, 4/12: A laptop was stolen from an office during the overnight hours. The suspect apparently pulled open exterior doors, then made his way up a flight a stairs to the second floor, where he located and took the laptop. Video showed a black male, 5’-10” to 6 feet, 230 to 250 pounds with short dreadlocks, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black baggy pants and white shoes, committing the burglary.
Thefts
- 1155 Mt. Vernon Hwy, 30328, 4/11: A 43-year-old man reported that someone went into his unlocked locker at LA Fitness and took a backpack with his laptop, Bentley key ring, Mercedes wallet credit and debit cards and an iPhone6 Plus. The theft occurred between 7-9 p.m.
- 8900 block Carroll Manor Drive, 30350, 4/12: A man reported his IRS refund was stolen from his mailbox.
- A man reported that he was given power of attorney over an elderly woman and found that her housekeeper had written several checks, amounting to over $8,000, from her account over several years.

- 7000 block of Talbot Colony, 30328, 4/13: Blackberry phone, $5 in change
- 7300 block of Brandon Mill Rd, 30350, 4/13: Jacket, checks, phone. (unlocked)
- 7800 block of Glisten Ave, 30328, 4/13: Purse and contents, cards used, (unlocked)
- 6100 block of PDR, 30328, 4/13: Nothing taken (Comfort Suites)
- 800 Hammond Drive, 30328, 4/13: Two laptops from trunk (Sheraton Hotel)
- 6120 PDR, 30328, 4/13: Handbag and dress shoes (Hilton)
Assault
- Drunken people smacking each other around causing little or no injury.
Fraud
- On April 11, a man reported that someone used his personal information to obtain medical services at Northside Hospital.
- On April 13, a man reported that Turbo Tax confirmed his tax refund. The victim uses Turbo Tax, but had not yet filed.
- A woman reported on April 13 that several checks were deposited into her account from a bedding company. She froze the account before payouts could be made on them.
- 5900 block of Spring Creek Lane, 30350, 4/13: A woman began work with World Outreach Christian Church in New York for one week. Her pay was $400 for that week. She was sent a check for $4,720 and told by her contact in NY to take the $400 and then send the balance to a separate account in California. She told her husband who recognized this as a scam and contacted the police before she deposited the check.
Other Things
- From the Raging Libido Files: A 17-year-old male told cops that he was corresponding with a female via computer when at some point she suggested she get nude and he do the same. She did and he did, from the waist down. At one point the guy realized he was being recorded. Later that day he received a phone call from a male (overseas number) who told him that he would post those nudies on Facebook if he did not send money. The guy wired $350 and then $880 to the extortion guy. He called the police after the man called him again wanting $2,500.
Arrests
- Street Crimes Unit detectives spotted a man on Northwood Drive, acting suspiciously as he walked back and forth from the rear of an apartment building. The man was described as looking very nervous and frequently scanning all around him. His actions gave the appearance that he maybe planning to commit a crime (like they do on TV, looking all nervous and sweaty). They confronted him and found on him a credit card, belonging to another person, which he said he had just found and wanted to turn over to the police (Of course sir, thank you for your good citizenship). The other thing on him at the time was methamphetamine.
- Other arrests included DUI, failure to appear, disorderly conduct, giving false name to the police, suspended driver's license, hit and run and reckless conduct.
