Other Things
- A woman called the police to report two people in a car, parked on her street during the daylight hours. The man was on top of the woman, according to the caller. Capt. Rose says: Well, we get these from time to time and although it is normally a case of a lack of discretion and timing, we check to make sure that both are consenting. Then we usually lecture and let go. Catch and release. Still, it’s a legit call to 911 because you never know until you find out.
- 789 Hammond Drive, 30328, 10/31: Around 11 p.m. cops responded to a call that several juveniles were in front of the condo property acting unruly. The officers located one juvenile who appeared extremely intoxicated and who told the officer “I’m drunker that a ’MF’.” His mother was called but prior to her arrival, the kid passed out and had to be taken to Northside Hospital by ambulance for evaluation. He did regain consciousness prior to being transported. He was charged on a copy for underage possession.
- Rose says: Here’s normally where I lecture as a parent of four kids, combined with what I’ve seen in 39+ years out here. For the sake of space, here is the lecture in bullet point:
- Teenagers aren’t smart. It’s not their fault. Their brains haven’t fully developed.
- They will try things — don’t think they won’t.
- You are not their friend, but rather you are their parent, and they will hate you from time to time especially if you are doing your job as a parent.
- If they accuse you of not trusting them, you may consider agreeing with them but tell them it’s for the right reasons.
- Don’t bluff and then not follow through. If they want to spend the night at Johnny’s house, you might want to show up. It really makes them mad but sends a message that you’re not kidding around. Detective Sandy and I used to call one of my boy’s at midnight when I told him to be where he was supposed to be. We’d be calling from the street outside the boy’s home. He got mad when I said he needed to step outside to talk to us. He drove up ten minutes later and accused me of not trusting him (See number 1). I agreed (See number 4). He really hated us for that, but got over it and is graduating from college next month. What he is not is buried in a cemetery because he went too far one night because he always got away with everything he tried. Lecture over.
- A man reported that he was in the parking lot of his apartment complex on Summit Springs Drive and got into an argument over his accusation that the other guy vandalized his car. The other guy told him, “I’ll beat your a--, I’ve got guns in my house and will kill you, and you don’t know what gang I’m in.” The two have a history.
- An officer arrived on GA-400/Northridge to investigate an accident and found that one of the driver appeared to be having a seizure inside his car, which was locked. The victim was unable to respond to requests so the officer broke the window as the paramedics arrived. I did not appear that he received any injuries from the accident.
- Timberland Drive, 30342, 11/4: Shih Tzu bites woman.
Fraud
- A man reported that he received mail from Barclays Master Card Company regarding past due payments on his card. He never opened an account with the company. Charges were being made in the metro area on that card.
- A 34-year-old man reported that he was contacted by Comcast on a $789 past due account that he did not open.
- A business owner on Glenridge Drive said he noticed suspicious activity on his business account, confirmed by his bank who said several transactions were conducted on the account, totaling $1,500 that resulted in refunds to another account not associated with the business. He held a meeting with the employees telling them that if the person came forward, he would fire them but not prosecute them. No one came forward; however, one of the employees did not return to work. He later confirmed that the account where the refunds were directed, was that of the missing employee.
- On Nov. 3, a 43-year-old man reported that his credit card number was used in a number of transactions totaling just over $200. One purchase was made at the Kroger on Northridge. The video is being looked at to see if they can identify the person using the card number.
