Robbery
- A woman, who lives on Cedar Run (30350) reported on the 30th, around 1:30 p.m., she used her debit card to withdraw several hundred dollars. She then walked home. As she did, she saw a black Chrysler 300 following her. She noticed that car had been parked next to the ATM when she withdrew the money. A male exited the car, grabbed her purse, re-entered the car and drove away. Capt. Steve Rose says: This victim had close to $1,000 on her before she was robbed. She noticed the car sitting alongside the building but didn’t see the driver or passenger due to tinted windows, but she walked home. She placed herself in all sorts of vulnerable conditions making it easy. If you know you’re going to handle that kind of money, make plans to have someone with you or at least a vehicle to get into and out of Dodge.
- 6600 block of Park Ave, 30342, 12/2: A 34-year-old man reported that he was home when a man and woman knocked on his door. He recognized them because they had been over once before with a mutual friend. He let them in and they sat on the couch. The victim said he then felt something hit him on the head and at the same time felt a sting of a stun device. The victim said as he fell, he hit the male suspect who got up to flee. The female was taking items from the apartment. The two suspects left in a 2008 Pontiac G6. The victim said he knew the male suspect as “Staxx” and female by “Katie.” He knew their phone numbers. The items taken were expensive watches.
- 5670 Peachtree Dunwoody Road, 30342, 12/2: A man who works for a Chinese food delivery service came to the location to deliver. He was in the parking deck when he was approached by a black male who asked a question about the location. The victim turned his back to the man for a second, at which time the man grabbed his iPhone6 and ran off. The officer activated the victim’s “Find My iPhone” account and typed in a message: “This phone was taken in a sudden-snatch robbery.”

Both parties threatened to stab the other. The only thing that was stabbed was the air mattress. Given that both parties were threatening the other, they were both arrested for domestic violence.

- A traffic officer observed a motorcycle traveling at a high rate of speed on GA-400 south at Northridge. The laser picked him up at 110 MPH, which is very fast. He pursued the motorcycle for a short time but the bike was moving so fast and weaving in and out of lanes that the officer terminated the pursuit due to the potential danger to others. He did get the tag though and called the registered owner of the bike who was later charged with speeding, reckless driving, and attempting to elude.
- 7800 block of Roswell Road, 30350, 11/30: A 24-year-old man was shot in the chest just before 2 a.m. during an argument inside the Morgan Falls Billiards. Witnesses said the victim and another man began fighting inside the club. At one point the victim was knocked to the floor. According to the witnesses, the suspect leaned over, pulled a gun, and shot the victim twice in the chest. The shooter ran from the bar, got into a black pickup truck, and left the area. Shortly after the police and EMS crews arrived, ChatComm 911 received a call that the suspect was at the SSPD wanting to speak with an officer. They confirmed it was the same person described by witnesses. The suspect admitted shooting the victim—saying the fight got “out of hand” and he shot the victim. He was charged with aggravated assault. The victim was taken to North Fulton Hospital. He will recover.
- 5640 New Northside Drive, 30342, 11/30: Cops were called to the Chevron Station in regards to a man, in a car, asking women for money. When the officer got there, the man was gone. The officer suspected he would most likely be at one of the other nearby stations so he checked them, finding the man at the Shell Station. He spoke to the man and according to the report, the man was “obviously under the influence of marijuana.” He had several priors. The man had no driver’s license (suspended) so the officer charged him with driving on the suspended license.

The caller was the disorderly person who told dispatchers he would break into a house unless someone came out to help him. He told the officer that he needed a ride to MARTA. The officer pointed out that MARTA was just down the street—about a five-minute walk. The man called the officer the dreaded “N” word. The man continued to yell and then said he would lay in the grass all night because the officer wouldn’t give him a ride. He was later arrested for causing a breach of the peace and generally acting like the dreaded “AH” word.
- 5932 Roswell Road, 30328, 12/1: Officers were called to Marshall’s Store around 8 p.m. on a shoplifting call. The caller said the suspect was in the dressing room attempting to remove the sensors from clothing. As the officer arrived, he saw a man, fitting the description given, running out the door. The officer gave chase and caught him near the Hammond Drive Burger King and told him to either stop or he would meet Mr. Taser. He stopped and was taken into custody. While running, he dropped two backpacks that were recovered. The stolen items totaled just under $200. Unfortunately for the suspect, the officer who took off after him on foot played for Florida State University as a receiver—who still looks like he could go four quarters.
- 6300 block of PDR, 30328, 12/2 (Costco): Security staff detained a woman who walked out the doors with a speaker that she removed from the box. The same type of speaker was taken yesterday—probably at the hands of the same woman. She attempted to flee but the security person had a good hold of her purse so she hung around. She was charged on the $179 theft, given a ticket to appear on the charge at a later date.
- 8000 block of Roberts Drive, 30350, 12/2: Officers were called to a domestic incident and told that one person pulled a knife and stabbed another, before leaving in a Nissan Versa, tag provided. During a domestic argument, the suspect cut the son on the lower torso and back of the neck during a struggle. The injuries were non-life threatening. The suspect was charged with aggravated assault and jailed.
