Sgt. Ron Momon, spokesperson with Sandy Springs police, said the victims were robbed of their wallets, cash and cell phones. The suspects fled the scene in a white Mazda vehicle with a temporary tag.

A Sandy Springs officer spotted the suspected vehicle on Roswell Road, and attempted to initiate a traffic stop.

The vehicle ignored the traffic stop, and a pursuit ensued on I-285 westbound towards Atlanta. The suspect’s vehicle subsequently crashed on Interstate 285 at Interstate 20 on the west side of Atlanta.

A foot pursuit ensued, and one suspect was apprehended. The second suspect was caught a short time after fleeing into a nearby neighborhood.

The Georgia State Patrol and Atlanta Police Department assisted in the apprehension of the suspects, and Momon said two handguns were recovered.

The suspects, identified as 17-year-old Eric Justin Patterson and 18-year-old Antwon Deshawn Earls, both of College Park, have been charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and fleeing to elude.

They will be transported to the Fulton County Jail.
