Sgt. Bohannon stated that it's possible that during a power outage, the fire alarm went off and closed metal doors in the building, "which sounded like gunfire."

She noted officers received reports that a couple of classrooms were barricaded and on lockdown.

Once on the scene, those officers entered the building, cleared the facility "for any type of suspicious people," looked for victims or indications of a shooter and found no evidence of either.

Sandy Springs officers are now escorting staff members back inside the building at 6600 Peachtree Dunwoody Road.

Sgt. Bohannon went onto say that it's unknown what caused the power outage.
