Arrests, thefts and more from Sandy Springs Police Capt. Steve Rose

On March 24, a resident in the 400 block of Spalding Drive said that just before 8 a.m. a white male in a red shirt came onto the property and attempted to gain entry into the home. The man was still there when the cops arrived. The resident said the man attempted to get in by checking all seven doors to the home—all of which were locked. The man was arrested and charged with Loitering and Prowling. He had an active warrant from the Roswell Police as well.

Arrests

  • On April 2, Officers responded to a “person armed” call at Publix supermarket, 7472 Roswell Road. The officers were told that the man was walking down the street holding a gun which was in plain view of the public. The officers located and detained the man. The gun was checked and found to have been stolen in Henry County, GA in January of this year. He was arrested.
  • Just after 10 a.m. on March 31, an officer driving down Northwood Drive saw a man urinating on a dumpster. The officer asked him why he did that to which he replied that he didn’t feel like going to the public restroom. The offender was not intoxicated. He was cited for violating the city’s public urination ordinance.
  • On March 30, a man was arrested by patrol officers as he walked along Northwood Drive just after midnight. The officers recognized him as being wanted on cocaine drug charges. He was arrested.
  • On March 24, officers responded to a fight call at the Cocktail Cove Gill and Bar at 5840 Roswell Road. They spoke with a woman who said another woman had assaulted her and damaged her car. The victim took the officers to her vehicle to show the damage. At that time, a woman ran from the wooded area near the parking lot, headed towards the victim.
  • The officers grabbed her as she tried to kick the victim. The victim explained that the other woman wanted her to come into the bar to party. (They were both in the same car.) The victim said the other woman got mad and demanded the victim get out of the car. The woman then assaulted the victim, hitting her in the face.
  • The other woman took off her high heels and hit the victim’s side-view mirror, damaging it. While the officers are speaking with the victim, the other woman was in the back of the patrol car screaming: “I’m going to find you and kill you!” The (now) defendant was handcuffed but slipped out of the cuffs and began trying to kick the window out as well as beating her head against the car window and metal cage. She was later arrested and taken to jail. Alcohol was involved.
  • On March 21, Kroger employees, at 227 Sandy Springs Place, called the police on a shoplifter who was attempting to steal 14 cans of GDST baby formula. He concealed them in two kitchen trash cans with lids on them. The staff recognized what he was doing and called the police. The officer detained the man in the parking lot and recovered the items. The man had a criminal history of shoplifting convictions in just about all of the metro Atlanta counties.

  • On March 20, at Fountain Oaks shopping center, 4920 Roswell Road, someone took the victim’s personal items, including purse, wallet, bank card, phone, and Kindle, from her car. The car was unlocked.
  • On March 21, credit cards were stolen from the victim’s car sometime between 7 and 9 a.m. while the car was parked at LA Fitness, 6690 Roswell Road.
