Report: Google Delays Decision To Bring Faster Internet Service to Sandy Springs

The company has previously said it was considering whether to bring its new fiber optic Internet service to several metro Atlanta cities.

Plans to announce whether Google will bring its high speed internet connection to Sandy Springs and metro Atlanta homes have been delayed.

According to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Google has delayed plans to announce the next slate of cities it will roll out its ultra-fast, fiber optic Internet service.

Along with Atlanta and Sandy Springs, Avondale Estates, Brookhaven, College Park, Decatur, East Point, Hapeville and Smyrna are all on the list of cities Google is eyeing to install the service.

Google fiber is already being deployed in Kansas City, Austin, Texas, and Provo, Utah.

Google’s delay comes just two months after AT&T announced plans to bring its GigaPower network to Sandy Springs.
