Residents Want Water Features, Shade Structures at New Park

About 20 citizens attended a Jan. 20 input meeting on the proposed one-acre park at the northeast corner of Abernathy and Wright roads.

Sandy Springs, GA -- At a January public input meeting, the city of Sandy Springs solicited input on the design on a proposed one-acre park it plans to construct on the northeast corner of Abernathy and Wright roads.

The park sits adjacent to Abernathy Greenway linear park, and participants at the meeting provided the follow elements to be considered for the design:

  • water features
  • landscaping
  • benches/seating area
  • shade structures
  • passive park
  • continuation of existing park fence and stone
  • minimal hardscape
  • plant bed and grass

About 20 people attended the Jan. 20 meeting, said Dan Coffer, the city’s neighborhood relations manager.

So what’s the next step in the process? More input! The city of Sandy Springs will continue to accept feedback on prioritizing the desired elements for the project.

Recommendations can be emailed to Coffer at dcoffer@sandyspringsga.gov.

The list and a link to send responses can be found on the city’s website. The deadline to send feedback is Feb. 12.
