Resurgens Orthopaedics physician named President-elect of Georgia Orthopaedic Society, Council Member-at-large of American Society for Surgery of the Hand
Dr. Kay Kirkpatrick continues leadership role in state, national orthopaedic scene

Dr. Kay Kirkpatrick, orthopaedic surgeon and co-president of Resurgens Orthopaedics, continues to play a pivotal role in the regional and national orthopaedic scene as she accepts two new professional leadership roles for the next three years. Dr. Kirkpatrick will serve as President-elect of the Georgia Orthopaedic Society (GOS) as well as Council Member-at-large for the American Society for Surgery of the Hand (ASSH).
“I’m honored to be selected by my peers for these prestigious leadership roles,” said Dr. Kirkpatrick. “The GOS and ASSH are both filled with world-class, distinguished orthopaedic surgeons, and I look forward working with them more in the coming years.”
The GOS is committed to helping Georgia orthopaedic surgeons provide quality care and lead rewarding professional lives. The society offers orthopaedic surgeons educational programs on clinical and practice management topics, conducts advocacy efforts on behalf of orthopaedic surgeons and patients, provides opportunities to foster personal and professional relations among orthopaedic surgeons, and promotes the specialty of orthopaedic surgery to the general public. The ASSH is dedicated to advancing the science and practice of caring for the hands and arms. The organization continues this advancement by publishing the peer-reviewed Journal of Hand Surgery, hosting learning opportunities for medical professionals each year, developing patient education materials, and maintaining an online compendium of content about hand and upper extremity surgery on its “hand e-platform.” For more information, visit www.assh.org.
Dr. Kay Kirkpatrick received her medical degree from the University of Louisville in Louisville, Kentucky where she also completed her surgical residency. Dr. Kirkpatrick completed a fellowship at the Kleinert Institute of Hand and Microsurgery in Louisville, Kentucky. Her clinical areas of expertise include surgery of the hand and upper extremity, occupational injuries, and Dupuytren’s disease. Her other special interests are patient safety and satisfaction, and teamwork and communication in the surgical setting. Dr. Kirkpatrick is board-certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery with an added qualification certificate in hand surgery. She currently serves as President-elect of the Georgia Orthopaedic Society, as Council Member-at-large for the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, and as co-president of Resurgens Orthopaedics. Dr. Kirkpatrick is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Medical Association, Medical Association of Georgia, and the Medical Association of Atlanta.
