Resurgens Orthopaedics Welcomes New Physician To St. Joseph's Office

Resurgens Orthopaedics — Georgia’s largest orthopaedic practice — continues to grow and expand its services with the addition of a highly trained and specialized orthopaedic surgeon to its St. Joseph’s office in Atlanta.

Dr. Y. Julia Kao comes to Resurgens Orthopaedics after completing her fellowship training in adult reconstruction and joint replacement at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York.

“Resurgens is thrilled to have another fellowship-trained joint physician join our group,” said Dr. John Gleason, Resurgens Orthopaedics’ co-president. “With the number of total joint replacements on the rise and the technology constantly improving, it’s an exciting time for patients who are considering a joint replacement to enhance their quality of life. Dr. Kao is a great addition to the team of physicians who excel in this specialty.”

One of the advancements that Resurgens Orthopaedics’ total joint physicians are performing is outpatient total hip and knee procedures for qualified patients. Resurgens Orthopaedics began performing these procedures in early 2014 at its Surgery Center on the 8th floor of the St. Joseph’s facility and at Emory-Saint Joseph’s Hospital. Resurgens Orthopaedics is using the latest techniques in anesthesia and rapid recovery protocols that are enabling patients to return home safely the same day. This benefits patients, as they are more comfortable at home and able to recover faster.

Dr. Y. Julia Kao received her medical degree from the University of Chicago’s Pritzker School of Medicine and completed her residency at the University of California at San Francisco. She completed a fellowship in adult reconstruction and joint replacement at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York. She is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons. Dr. Kao is currently accepting patients at Resurgens Orthopaedics’ St. Joseph’s office, conveniently located between Brookhaven, Sandy Springs and Dunwoody.
