The officer discovered his rear passenger window was shattered and the driver side door had been forced open.

SANDY SPRINGS, GA -- Items used by a Sandy Springs police officer to serve and protect the community were stolen from his cruiser earlier this month while the car was parked outside a local bank.

The officer discovered his department-issued 2014 Dodge Charger had been targeted around 11:27 p.m. May 4 at PNC Bank, which is located at 5640 Roswell Road.

According to an incident report released by the agency, the car's rear passenger window was shattered and the driver side door had been forced open.

The door's handle was also pried off during the incident. The officer reported his Rock River MF Carbine rifle had been swiped from the Santa Cruz gun lock rack, which is situated between the front driver and passenger seats of the Charger.

The rifle also had an Advancement Armament suppressor attached to the barrel, and that piece of equipment was also stolen during the crime, according to the report.

A check of the rear passenger vehicle also confirmed the officer's black Safariland tactical vest carrier -- along with his department issued ballistic vest -- had also been removed from the vehicle.

The rifle is valued at $1,400 while the suppressor attached to the barrel of the weapon is believed to be worth $600. The vest carrier is worth $200, according to the report.
